You are unlimited. If you doubt that, go into your mind. Inside your mind are worlds within worlds, things unseen and unknown to you but that, nevertheless, exist. Try it. Look within your mind for anything you wish. It’s all there inside of you. If you reject this idea, that is your reality. You have the choice to change your thinking and to see things differently, or you can carry on with your life as it is. Either way, I hope you are happy.
Your beliefs are yours, and they will either limit you or set you free. It’s your choice. You are responsible for your own life. This typically pisses people off when they hear this. People are conditioned from a young age to believe certain things about themselves, their environment and the world. They were given direction and were told what reality is, how it looks, what it does, what it smells, tastes, sounds and feels like. But that is not reality. That is just the physical world that began with a thought, word and feeling. Thought, word and feeling create reality. Reality begins within. When we are told that we are the one determining our own reality, we fight that concept. We were taught to believe that reality simply IS, that it is predetermined, and that we must learn to exist and survive within it. When many people begin their journey, suddenly, their inner compass is hijacked by their past beliefs, reactions and emotional responses. I hear it all the time. “I tried creating a happier work environment and “X” (insert situation) happened, and you tell me that I am responsible?”
It’s a tall order, isn’t it– to be responsible for your life? It’s also very worthwhile to take the leap of faith and embrace this thinking. Baby steps can be a good place to start for some, while others may fearlessly go for it. When you begin small, it’s easier to see the little results and build to larger results.
If you are not happy with your circumstances and you have no idea why you are unhappy, know this: the circumstances of your life reflect your misery. Everything is a mirror. As Neville Goddard said, “Everything is you pushed out.” Your attitude about your life and what you see is a reflection of your outer world.
What happens when you tell yourself that you are responsible for everything that happens to you? Does that piss you off? Do you argue with the idea and think that it’s all nonsense? Are you in a place where you seriously need to change? If you are, you will need to be fearless and open. When you understand how and why you create reality, you will see that it’s actually quite simple. It’s not easy, but it is simple. We will begin this two-part blog post with the simple.
Your Beliefs Determine Your Attitude
By changing the chemistry in your body, you change the chemistry and the thoughts in your mind. How do you see the glass? Is it half-full or is it half-empty? It doesn’t matter how you answer that question, because both answers are correct — it’s all in how you view it. The most interesting part of this question is what is behind how you view the glass. In discovering that, you will discover your beliefs. Your beliefs are determining your attitudes. So if the glass is half- empty, why not try and see it half-full? Try shifting your perception.
Many people are in the habit of protecting themselves through negative attitudes, using doubt and skepticism as a shield of protection. What are you protecting yourself from? And if you have the choice right now to choose to see the glass half-full, why wouldn’t you? Ask yourself that. Try reframing your initial reaction to something before it happens.
For example, you realize that you believe that life sucks. You have a negative attitude, which is evident in how you always treat the cashier at your favorite coffee house. In your mind’s eye, visualize the scene differently. Smile as you hand them your credit card and hear and feel yourself ask, “Hey, how’s your day going?” No matter what their response is, look at them and reply, “I wish you a great rest of your day! You deserve it.”
When you begin to embrace the positive, your life will reflect the same. You will make friends, people will love your smile and your positive attitude, and the result? You will feel better!
What You Focus On Expands
Be thankful for what you have. When your attitude is positive, a message is sent out from your energy field that says you are grateful for everything that you have. As it says in Matthew 13:12, To those that have, more will be given. To those that have not, it will be taken away. When you speak words of gratitude, you are telling the Universe that you are abundant and that you will always have more than enough. What you focus on expands. If you focus on how beautiful the world is, you will see beauty everywhere. It’s not that the world is actually filled with more beauty, it’s just that you are more aware of it. What you focus on, you see more of.
Gratitude is Love
Gratitude and having a positive attitude and mindset is as act of self-love. Showing gratitude for everything you have sends the message that you are loving your life and the good things in it. You cannot be miserable and feel horribly about yourself and be positive. If you work on gratitude, self-love follows. A firm foundation of self-love creates inner strength. Self-love begins within. It will not be found outside of yourself (that is why it is called “self” love). You can go to the spa, get four massages a month, work out, eat like a vegan champ and still be miserable. Gratitude is a feeling. Feel your way into the “state of being” grateful. Unfortunately, most people do not have the patience to practice gratitude. They fall back into their slumber and their old ways.
Faith and Belief
Disbelief is a belief. The opposite of faith is fear. Both are a choice. Consciously choosing faith over fear and belief over disbelief brings inner peace and spiritual fortitude. Faith and belief are within you. You just need to make contact with them by calling them up.
When you set a goal to manifest something and achieve it, that achievement was within you before you even began. Everything is within you. This is part of the human spiritual journey–to know that you have everything you need right inside of you. You must have one ingredient: Your faith must be unshakeable. Do not let minor setbacks shake the foundation of your faith. Faith is unwavering belief in that which you cannot see but you know to be true. Mastering faith is mastering your circumstances and your life. It creates miracles.
Small Beginnings
Jesus set a parable before His disciples and He said, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sewed in his field; which indeed is smaller than all seeds. But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.” The Kingdom of Heaven is your brain and your mind, and in this place, growth comes from small beginnings. The meaning of the birds of the air that come to lodge in its branches represents your place of refuge. Your mind is a place of peace if you control and master your thoughts. An organized mind can command creation, thus commanding this reality.
Do you have faith that things will work out for you? They will.
Do you believe that things never work out for you? Then they won’t.
Drop the stories you tell yourself about your past. Drop the reasons you give as to why things never work out for you. Drop the wasted emotions of guilt, anger, sadness, resentment and jealousy. These things will all be true and will manifest for you until you change your perception by changing your mind about these things. You know the story you tell. Rewrite it. Revise and reframe your past. What if your childhood were great? And the person who left you and abandoned you didn’t? Or how the child became a hero and overcame? IMAGINE.
Taking Responsibility
The idea that you are responsible for your life is often met with resistance. It is a life-altering idea that puts the onus of your life upon you. It can be very scary, but it is enormously empowering. Take responsibility for everything that happens to you. Choose to change your mind because no one can do it for you. Only you can change you. If you give your power away by allowing others to choose for you, that is a form of taking responsibility for your choices, too.
In Part 2 of this blog post, we will discuss how you can manifest what you desire.
